War of Empire Conquest (WOE) is an engaging real-time strategy (RTS) mobile game that delivers a thrilling competitive Player vs. Player (PvP) experience. In WOE, one player can initiate a match, inviting others to join and battle it out in real-time. Players have the liberty to manually control a diverse array of units and buildings, offering a high degree of freedom in their strategic maneuvers.
The game immerses players in the medieval ages, simulating 18 formidable Empires or civilizations, including China, Japan, Persia, Teutonic, Mongolian, Gothic, Maya, and more. Each Empire boasts 8 types of regular units alongside a unique unit exclusive to that civilization. For instance, Mongolia has Riders, Persia boasts War Elephants, and Spain features Conquistadors. Regular units across all Empires include:
- Swordsman: A versatile and common unit.
- Pikeman: Effective against Cavalry but susceptible to arrows.
- Archers: Vulnerable to Cavalry but excel against Pikemen.
- Light Cavalry: Known for swift movement and high mobility, ideal for harassment tactics.
- Aries: Specifically designed for attacking buildings.
Buildings within the game, such as Towers, Turrets, Castles, and Blacksmith Shops, play crucial roles. Towers, for instance, can be upgraded to launch volleys of six arrows when manned by five farmers. Turrets, on the other hand, are specialized for demolishing enemy structures.
Each Empire in WOE has its unique strengths and weaknesses, encouraging players to dive into the game for a detailed understanding. For example, the Huns can bypass the need for housing, saving time and resources, with their Cavalry costing 20% less and upgradable to Rangers. Conversely, the Teutonic warriors, while powerful like the historical Spartans, move at a slower pace.
Gameplay Highlights
The essence of WOE's gameplay revolves around multitasking during matches:
- Develop Economy: Continuously produce farmers and gather resources, utilizing Town Centers (TC) and Towers as temporary shelters.
- Harass Enemies: Early in the game, train small units to disrupt enemy farmers, gaining strategic advantages.
- Destroy Enemies: Engage in direct combat to eliminate opposing forces.
Cooperation is key; players should form legions with allies to overpower numerically superior enemy troops and protect units with high damage but low health. Understanding unit counterplay is vital:
- Pikemen counter Cavalry.
- Cavalry are effective against Archers.
- Archers have the advantage over Pikemen.
- Slaves (riding camels) are particularly effective against Cavalry.
- The Koryo Carriage can neutralize all other ranged units.
Game Modes
WOE features two primary resources: Food and Gold. As players progress, they can upgrade their Town Center (TC) through various historical eras, from the Dark Ages to the Feudal, Castle, and Emperor eras, unlocking advanced technologies, buildings, and units. The game offers multiple modes, with the most popular being:
- Normal Mode: Characterized by limited resources, requiring a focus on development. Players can initiate early harassment with small troops. This mode, while complex, is highly engaging.
- Imperial Deathmatch Mode: Players start directly in the Emperor era with ample resources, allowing for immediate, intense battles.
