Iansan to Replace Bennett in Genshin Impact?

by Grace Oct 03,2025

Bennett remains one of the most versatile and valuable characters in Genshin Impact. Remarkably, despite being available since launch, he continues to dominate meta team compositions. But could Iansan potentially replace Bennett in Genshin Impact?

Players often joke that HoYoverse accidentally made support characters like Bennett too powerful (alongside Xingqiu and Xiangling), prompting the developers to create more niche alternatives. With Genshin Impact Version 5.5 launching on March 26, the new 4-Star Electro Polearm user Iansan enters the roster. Many are calling her the "Bennett replacement" due to their similar support capabilities. But does she truly fill his role? Let's examine the details.

How Does Iansan's Kit Compare to Bennett's in Genshin Impact?

This Natlan-born support character specializes in damage buffs and healing. Like Bennett, her Elemental Burst—The Three Principles of Power—serves as her primary buffing tool. However, while Bennett's field restricts movement, Iansan summons a Kinetic Energy Scale that follows your active character, providing ATK boosts scaled to her Nightsoul Points.

When Iansan has fewer than 42/54 Nightsoul Points, her ATK bonus scales with both Nightsoul and ATK. Above 42, it purely scales with ATK—making ATK-focused builds ideal. However, the buffed character must maintain movement (both vertical and horizontal) to generate Nightsoul regeneration based on distance traveled.

Bennett's healing outperforms Iansan's significantly, restoring up to 70% HP within his field, while Iansan cannot heal herself. Bennett also offers Pyro infusion at C6, whereas Iansan lacks Electro infusion—a consideration depending on team needs.

Bennett celebrating victoriously

For exploration, Iansan excels with Nightsoul-powered sprinting and extended jumps. However, Bennett remains superior for Pyro teams due to Elemental Resonance's +25% ATK buff and infusion.

Should You Choose Iansan or Bennett in Genshin Impact?

Iansan functions similarly to Bennett but offers a distinct playstyle—freeing players from "Circle Impact," the community term for Bennett's stationary buff zone. Her mobile Kinetic Scale encourages dynamic movement, making her an excellent alternative for Spiral Abyss second teams.

Rather than replacing Bennett, Iansan serves as a viable counterpart. You can test her in Phase I of Version 5.5, launching March 26.
