Before diving into the detailed walkthrough for Superliminal, let's cover the essentials. In this game, you can't die—think of it as being in a dream where even dropping a massive block on your head won't hurt you.

Start by familiarizing yourself with the game's mechanics in the practice room. Experiment with picking up objects and manipulating their size by releasing them at different distances. Drop an object near the floor or wall to make it smaller, or further away to make it larger. You can repeat this process to adjust the size of objects even further.

For instance, if you hold a pawn over a desk from across the room, it can appear as large as a lamp. Releasing it at that distance will make it that size in reality. This concept of perspective is key, as explained in the practice room's note. You'll also learn to make objects appear by aligning them in your view.

It might take some time to get the hang of it, but soon these mechanics will become second nature. Now, let's guide you through each of the nine levels of Superliminal.

Level 1 – Induction

Superliminal - several huge chess pieces and blocks in a room.This level introduces you to the fundamental techniques of navigating Superliminal.

Puzzle 1

Begin by signing the contract if you wish, then proceed down the corridor to the next room.

Puzzle 2

Use the pawns and other items on the table to practice. Move to the next room where a giant chess piece blocks your path. Pick it up, look down at the floor, and drop it to shrink it. Jump over the now smaller box to continue.

Puzzle 3

The exit door is in the far right corner behind two stacked blocks. Shrink the top block by releasing it near the floor. Use the fallen chess piece as a stepping stone to reach the top of the block and exit through the door.

You'll encounter doors that you can only pass through if you're not carrying an object.

Puzzle 4

To keep the door open, place an object on the button, similar to the game Portal. Stand to the right of the button to see through the door when it opens. Place the cube on the button and walk through.

Puzzle 5

From the previous room, pick up the cube and look at the ceiling of the current room. Drop and pick up the cube repeatedly, making it larger until it serves as a step to the door in the corner. Climb on it and proceed to the next room.

Look through the left window to pick up the pawn. Then, through the right window, align the pawn's shadow with the button and place it there. Exit through the door.

Puzzle 7

Learn to rotate objects, which can only be done in one plane. Pick up the cheese and use the look-up-and-drop technique to enlarge it enough to use as a ramp to the doorway.

Puzzle 8

Shrink the massive block by holding it against a wall and releasing it. Repeat until it's small enough to place on the button next to the door.

Puzzle 9

Grab the large block from the left and shrink it by dropping it near the bottom of the wall. Look through the broken window and place the now tiny block on the button you see beyond. Alternatively, you might drop it on the slope to guide it through.

Puzzle 10

To get the block over the wall into the next room, stand in the back left corner. Raise the block above the wall until you see its shadow, then release it to fall into the other half of the room. Place it on the button and exit.

Enlarge the exit sign by repeatedly dropping it from the ceiling until it's large enough to touch both buttons simultaneously. Rotate it into position, release it, and exit.

Ignore the button behind the door and focus on the crack in the wall panels to your left. Take the cheese wedge, enlarge it, and rotate it to knock down the leaning wall panel, creating a path to continue.

Level 2 – Optical

Assuming you've mastered resizing objects, here's how to navigate this level.

Puzzle 1

Move through the hotel to the fire exit door. Set it aside and proceed. When you see a nighttime painting to your left, walk towards it to go upstairs. In the large room, make an exit sign larger to climb over the far wall. Use the boxes to reach the door.

Puzzle 2

Enter the room to your right with fold-out tables and a projector. Align the cube-painted items until they form a perfect cube, which will appear. Enlarge this chequered cube to stand on it and reach the corridor exit.

Create another cube by aligning the flowers behind the table with an X on it. Walk backwards until they line up. Go to the opposite side and align the flowers on the new table with the flower hole in the checkered cube to reveal a set of stairs. Enlarge it to reach the high door in the corridor.

Puzzle 4

Take the cube stairs with you and use them to reach the ledge on the left of the large room. Align the missing part of the fire exit door on a pillar to make it real. 'Open' it by clicking without moving and exit through the new doorway.

Puzzle 5

Climb the stairs to the room with spilled paint. Align the cube on the ceiling, pick it up, and enlarge it to reach the upper level and the yellow gantry. On the gantry, align the green pipe with the stain to create a chess piece. Pick it up and exit through the hole it makes.

Back in the hotel, look through the far skylight and pick up the Moon. Enlarge and rotate it until you can walk through its tiny door. Enter the elevator to complete the level.

Level 3 – Cubism

Prepare to manipulate numerous dice in this mental museum/art gallery.

Upon reaching the gallery, enter the Curator's Room on the right and grab the dice. Enlarge it to reach the ledge and move to the next room, taking the dice with you.

Puzzle 2

Enlarge the dice to reach the exit, then use the smaller dice from the alcove as a stepping stone onto the larger one. Go through the high door.

Puzzle 3

Simply pick up the new dice and jump down the hole it creates. Grab the air vent beneath the floor and continue.

Puzzle 4

Use the dice as steps to proceed.

Upon entering, you'll see three dice attached to the floor. Lower the middle dice into the floor, then slide the left dice to the right. Jump onto it to reach the ledge.

Puzzle 6

The dice will collapse, but pick up any side to create a ramp to the ledge and exit the door.

Puzzle 7

Position the dice near the ledge. If it explodes, use any piece to form steps to ascend to the ledge.

Puzzle 8

Remove the dice face opposite the stairs, then enter the cube. Head to the elevator to complete the level.

Level 4 – Blackout

Several tanks and bottles in Superliminal. While there's no risk of death, you might experience some tense moments. Walk a bit before encountering the first puzzle.

Puzzle 1

The door ahead leads to a dead end. Walk to the right through the darkness to find an exit at the back.

Puzzle 2

Encounter a room with a red pit. Look at the ground to find a winding platform to your left. Follow it across the pit to the next area.

Puzzle 3

When the door slams behind you, walk backwards into the darkness to see an arrow pointing to silhouetted stairs. Ascend the stairs.

Puzzle 4

In the red room, look through the planks and take the exit sign. Enlarge it and use it to light your way past the boxes. Drop it before going through the door.

In the storeroom, enlarge the red exit sign to illuminate the room through the glass window. Climb the boxes to reach the high exit.

Finally, at the IDEA generator, turn it on and head straight to the elevator to complete the level.

Level 5 – Clone

This level introduces objects that spawn copies of themselves. After discarding the initial green fire door, you'll encounter the first puzzle.

Puzzle 1

Place the green door you removed earlier on the button to open the door.

In the Y-shaped corridor with fire doors, keep clicking to create a staircase of doors. Climb over the top of the wall to proceed.

Puzzle 3

Click the clock to spawn duplicates. Enlarge them to create a staircase, as shown in the example below, and use your console's button to remove unwanted copies.

The apple on the button keeps the door locked. Clone it, look at the ceiling, and release it to drop a massive apple that knocks the smaller one off. Use your console's button to retry if needed.

Puzzle 5

Clone the apple from the stairs onto the green button. Stand behind the button and click the apple when the bottom half is hidden to clone it onto the button.

Puzzle 6

Clone the SomnaSculpt sign until you can climb up to the top level. Jump down the hole beneath the door and navigate the corridors to reach the elevator and complete the level.

Level 6 – Dollhouse

Enter the Relaxation Room and proceed through the movie theatre. Turn right at Suite G, go through the office area, and pass the object-blocking door.

Puzzle 1

Enlarge the dollhouse until its window is above your head. Enter the dollhouse and jump onto the suitcases and table to reach the other door.

Puzzle 2

Use the small fan to collapse the Jenga-like blocks, freeing the door. Proceed through the door.

Puzzle 3

Enlarge the second window from the left and walk through it.

Puzzle 4

Enlarge the inflatable castle to enter the door. Looking through the vent fan, place the castle on the top diving board. Go back through the door to reach the board and proceed through the door in front of you. Adjust the castle's size if needed.

Position the larger door near the upper door/keyhole, covering its bottom quarter. Shimmy through the gap and enter the door. Place the smaller door on top of the first, then squeeze between the wall and the doors to pass through the keyhole.

Resize the cardboard dollhouse on the ledge to enter it. Proceed to the elevator to complete the level.

Level 7 – Labyrinth

After waking up, proceed to the backrooms. Keep walking during the emergency protocol voiceover, returning to the bedroom multiple times until gravity shifts.

Puzzle 1

Navigate the alarm clock loop by repeatedly returning to the bedroom until the screen goes black and gravity shifts. Drop through the doorway to the catering area, then click the alarm to return to the bedroom. Use the blue sky painting to fill the blank hallway's wall, enter it, and sidestep left to continue into a red hall where gravity pins you to the wall.

Puzzle 2

Inside the hall, click the grey door to the right to reveal the exit and drop the door. Jump down the hole beneath the fallen door and proceed to the orange hall.

Puzzle 3

In the orange hall, align the painted block on the right wall. As you back up, fall down the crack to the next area or simply run to the wall and drop down.

Puzzle 4

Grab the spiral staircase, look up, and drop it to enlarge it and smash through the floor. Climb down to the bottom, move the slide-like junk near the elevator, and enter it. Turn around in the lift and exit through the door behind you. Follow the exit signs in the repeating hallway to the next area.

Puzzle 5

Shrink the dice to place it on the left ledge, then climb onto the next level of the swimming pool. Turn around to make the dice appear on the top level. Use it to climb and exit through the door.

Stand on the button and look through the door. Use the knight chess piece to hold down the button instead of the 2D-turning chess piece.

Puzzle 7

Pick up the dice to change the room. Use it to reach the bed level, then drop the cube to transport to a dark corridor. Walk to the end wall, drop down, and click the alarm clock to reach a group of elevators. Follow the arrows through the elevators and darkened hallway to the elevator.

Puzzle 8

Approach the lampposts to turn them 2D. Walk up to each of the four 'walls' to reveal a bedroom in the middle. Enter and click the alarm clock to complete the level.

Level 8 – Whitespace

You're nearing the end. First, solve the puzzle to escape the room you wake up in.

Puzzle 1

Enlarge the building model on the table, specifically the chunk left of "Jungles," until you can enter its door. Position it to obscure the far door from the desk. Enter the door to open the bricked-up doorway. Shrink the model, pick it up, and walk towards the door to dissolve the room into white. Walk until you reach a black block.

Puzzle 2

Navigate the long hallway with open walls and white pillars until you see a white window in a black area. Walk through it, then use the inverted window as a cube to climb through the far door. In the next room, walk behind the window wall towards the containers and chimney, then flick the switch.

Puzzle 3

Instead of climbing the stairs, walk through the white stair shape. Follow the black path until you fall and continue walking.

Puzzle 4

In the looping hallway with colored pillars, walk through the white walls to find a door behind the red and blue end. Proceed to the chessboard.

Puzzle 5

Avoid falling through the chessboard by using chess pieces from the table. Place the white piece on a white square, cross to it, then use the black piece on a black square. Repeat until you're across.

Puzzle 6

To pass through the white door, place the cube behind the white space behind the door to turn it into a room. Grab the cheese wedge inside, enlarge it to reach the high door, and position it below the door.

Keep falling through the chequered holes and corridors until you pass through a door into whitespace. Turn around, click the black box to reveal an exit sign and a red pit. Jump into the pit to complete the level.

Level 9 – Retrospect
