Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Hotfix 4.1 Addresses Player Concerns Following Patch 4.0 Backlash
Saber Interactive is releasing hotfix 4.1 for Space Marine 2 on October 24th, directly responding to negative player feedback regarding the nerfs introduced in Patch 4.0. The developers are reversing the "most critical" balance changes from Patch 4.0, acknowledging the community's frustration. This decision follows negative Steam reviews and widespread player criticism.
Game director Dmitriy Grigorenko stated that the team is reverting the most problematic balance adjustments. He also announced plans for public test servers, aiming for a launch around early 2025, to better incorporate player feedback in future updates.
The original intention behind Patch 4.0's changes was to increase the game's challenge, primarily by adjusting enemy spawn rates rather than increasing enemy health. However, this approach inadvertently made even easier difficulties too difficult.
Hotfix 4.1 will address these issues by:
-
Reverting enemy spawn rates: Spawn rates for Extremis enemies will return to pre-Patch 4.0 levels on Minimal, Average, and Substantial difficulties, and will be significantly reduced on Ruthless difficulty.
-
Buffing player armor: A 10% increase to player armor on Ruthless difficulty.
-
Buffing bots: Bots will now inflict 30% more damage to bosses.
-
Significant Bolt Weapon Buffs: A comprehensive buff to the entire Bolt weapon family, addressing their underperformance across all difficulty levels. Specific damage increases are as follows:
- Auto Bolt Rifle: +20%
- Bolt Rifle: +10%
- Heavy Bolt Rifle: +15%
- Stalker Bolt Rifle: +10%
- Marksman Bolt Carbine: +10%
- Instigator Bolt Carbine: +10%
- Bolt Sniper Rifle: +12.5%
- Bolt Carbine: +15%
- Occulus Bolt Carbine: +15%
- Heavy Bolter: +5% (x2)
Grigorenko confirmed that the team will continue monitoring player feedback after the release of Patch 4.1 to ensure the "Lethal" difficulty remains appropriately challenging and rewarding.
