Wingspan Asia Expansion Launches This Year with New Cards and Modes

The highly anticipated Asia Expansion for the strategy video game Wingspan is slated for release later this year, though the exact date remains under wraps. This expansion promises to enrich the game with a variety of new content, including a fresh selection of birds, a new game mode, and stunning new sceneries inspired by the diverse landscapes of Asia.

Full Details on Wingspan Asia Expansion

The Wingspan Asia Expansion will introduce a captivating array of new elements to the game. Players can look forward to encountering beautiful birds from regions such as India, China, and Japan, each with unique abilities and intriguing trivia that enhance the gameplay experience.

The expansion will include 13 new bonus cards, with two specifically tailored for the Automa mode, making solo play more engaging and challenging. Additionally, the expansion will feature four new, breathtaking backgrounds inspired by various Asian landscapes, along with eight new player portraits that reflect local cultural influences.

A highlight of the Asia Expansion is the introduction of the Duet Mode, offering an intense one-on-one Wingspan experience. Players will compete on a special Duet Map, vying for habitat spaces and striving to meet different end-of-round goals, adding a new layer of strategic depth to the game.

Audio enhancements are also part of the package, with four new relaxing music tracks composed by Paweł Górniak. These tracks are designed to complement the serene atmosphere of bird-watching and strategic planning within the game.

Tried the Game Yet?

Wingspan, originally a card-based board game designed by Elizabeth Hargrave, was adapted into a digital format and first released on PC in 2020, followed by mobile versions in 2021. In the game, players work to attract the best birds to their wildlife preserve, creating powerful combinations that enhance their strategy.

With a limited number of turns, players must carefully manage resources such as food, egg-laying, and card draws to build their nature preserve. The birds in the game mimic their real-life behaviors, with hawks hunting, pelicans fishing, and geese forming flocks, adding a realistic touch to the gameplay.

While waiting for the Asia Expansion, players can explore the existing European and Oceania expansions, available on the Google Play Store.
