Respawn Scraps Unrevealed Titanfall Multiplayer Game

According to a former employee of the studio, who shared the news via her LinkedIn profile, the game had been in active development for several years before production was unexpectedly halted this week. Unfortunately, no official explanation has been provided regarding the cancellation.

Last year, industry insider Jeff Grubb noted that the project was not intended to be a traditional mainline entry in the series—meaning it was not Titanfall 3. To bring the vision to life, Respawn assembled a dedicated "experimental team," bringing together experts with proven experience in crafting high-quality multiplayer shooters.

This is not the first time Respawn has pulled the plug on an ambitious Titanfall-related endeavor. Last year, the studio canceled another spin-off titled Titanfall Legends—an arcade-style shooter that failed to meet internal expectations or strategic goals.

The Titanfall franchise is celebrated for its fast-paced gameplay and seamless integration of ground combat and mech-based warfare. Players can choose to fight as agile pilots or command heavily armed Titans. Since its debut in 2014, the series has built a loyal fanbase thanks to its unique mix of parkour-inspired movement and intense squad-based action.

At the moment, Respawn Entertainment is concentrating its efforts on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the highly anticipated third installment in the Jedi series, as well as a new strategy title set in the Star Wars universe. The latter is being co-developed with Bit Reactor, expanding the reach of the beloved sci-fi franchise into fresh gameplay territory.
