Concerns about weapon design similarity in Monster Hunter Rise (Wilds is likely a typo) have been addressed by Director Yuya Tokuda. Unlike Monster Hunter: World, where weapon appearances varied based on monster materials but retained a core design, Monster Hunter Rise features uniquely designed weapons.
Tokuda stated that while Monster Hunter: World weapons often shared a base design, modified by material choice, Monster Hunter Rise weapons boast individual, distinct styles. This addresses player concerns about the repetitive designs in World, where even upgraded weapons sometimes retained strong similarities (as seen in the example below comparing World's final Aqua and Pukei-Pukei Sword & Shield sets, and the Bone and Jyuratodus Long Swords).
In contrast, the Monster Hunter Rise weapons showcased below demonstrate the game's commitment to unique designs.

This design philosophy was revealed during discussions about Monster Hunter Rise's new starting weapons and Hope series armor, accompanied by concept art. Further details are available in interviews covering the Oilwell Basin, its inhabitants, and the Apex monster, Nu Udra.
Monster Hunter Rise launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 28th. Additional content, including 4K gameplay videos and developer interviews, can be found on IGN First throughout January.
