As a long-time PC gamer, I've always relied on Steam sales to keep my gaming library fresh. However, Xbox Game Pass never quite felt necessary—until now. Bethesda and Virtuos surprised everyone by shadow-dropping *The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered* directly onto Game Pass. Although the secret was poorly kept, the reveal was still mind-blowing. And if that wasn’t enough, tomorrow brings *Clair Obscur: Expedition 33*, the visually stunning debut from Sandfall Interactive, drawing inspiration from the JRPG legends. As an avid RPG fan, I have to say, Microsoft, you've finally won me over.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was unveiled and released for PC, consoles, and Game Pass on April 22. Like many others, I spent the day downloading the game and the night immersed in its captivating soundtrack. The near-remake boasts new character models, enhanced combat interactions, and remastered visual effects. Despite hiring over five new voice actors, Virtuos wisely retained the original's charmingly janky dialogue. The base edition of the remaster is priced at $49.99, including the original DLCs, while a deluxe edition is available for $10 more.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the much-anticipated debut from French studio Sandfall Interactive, launches at midnight PST tonight in the U.S. It currently boasts a stellar 92 rating on Metacritic, with IGN giving it a 9/10, lauding its story design and calling it "a true modern throwback." The game's stylish UI evokes the Persona series, and early gameplay footage showcases one of the most innovative turn-based combat systems I've seen. Priced at $49.99 for the base edition, it matches the cost of the Bethesda remaster.
Although Expedition 33 was poised to be the highlight of April's Game Pass lineup, the surprise release of Oblivion Remastered has cast a slight shadow over the indie game's debut. From my perspective, however, we're getting two exceptional titles, and Game Pass makes it easier on the wallet. Instead of shelling out $100 for two new games, I opted for a $20 Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Now, the only dilemma is when I'll see the outdoors again.
Numerous other big titles slated for 2025 have recently joined the service, including *Blue Prince*, *South of Midnight*, and *Avowed*, alongside classics like *GTA V* and the entire *Call of Duty* series. Truly, there's something for everyone.Game Pass Is a Ridiculously Good Deal Right Now
Game Pass Ultimate starts at $19.99/month, granting access to the entire Game Pass library across consoles, PCs, and cloud gaming. The PC-only Game Pass is more affordable at $9.99/month. The Standard and Core tiers, priced at $14.99/month and $9.99/month respectively, do not include day-one releases. The last price increase for Game Pass was in July 2024, and with these game launches, I wouldn't be surprised if another hike is on the horizon.
Currently, there are no active Game Pass deals, but a three-month subscription might shield you from future price increases. For deals on other platforms, check out our roundup of PS5, PC, and Switch offers. Also, don't miss out—U.S. preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 go live tonight.
