After just a year on the market, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is coming to a close. Activision has officially announced that the mobile version of this popular battle royale will no longer receive seasonal updates or new content, and it has been removed from both the App Store and Google Play as of May 18th. Real-money transactions are no longer available, and if you haven’t installed the app before this date, you won’t be able to access it at all.
This unexpected decision marks the end of a significant mobile release that sought to deliver the complete Warzone experience to mobile gamers. Despite Activision's pride in how closely the mobile version mirrored its PC and console counterparts, the game didn't resonate as well with the mobile audience.
If you've already got the game on your device, you can continue to play online even after May 19th. While matchmaking and online play will persist for the time being, social features are being disabled. There's no set date for when the servers will shut down completely. The in-game store will still be accessible, but only for those with existing COD Points. No new purchases can be made.
As a silver lining, players with remaining COD Points can transfer them to Call of Duty: Mobile. This offer is valid until August 15th. By logging into Call of Duty: Mobile with the same Activision account, you'll receive double the value of your unused Warzone Mobile COD Points, plus additional bonuses.
For those who haven't installed or reinstalled the game by May 19th, this is your final chance. Post-deadline, no refunds will be available, and the game will become inaccessible. This marks a somber end to what was intended to be a major expansion of the Warzone universe, serving as a reminder that even the most renowned franchises can struggle to maintain longevity on mobile platforms.
