Star Wars: Hunter shutting down in late 2025, final content update next month

by Finn May 13,2025

Star Wars: Hunters, Zynga's initial foray into the Star Wars franchise, is set to close its doors just over a year after its debut on iOS and Android platforms. Launched in June 2024, the game quickly captured attention with its unique game show style and innovative interpretations of Star Wars archetypes.

It has now been confirmed that Star Wars: Hunters will cease operations on October 1st of this year. Before its closure, a final content update is scheduled for April 15th. In response to the shutdown, in-game currency is now refundable, and certain seasonal events will be rerun as part of an extended season three.

Fans eager to experience the last hunter, Tuya, will have the opportunity to play with this new character in multiplayer mode. Tuya will be introduced in the final content update and will be available to all players at no cost from the start.

Story's Over
The announcement of Star Wars: Hunters' closure came as a surprise, with no prior indications of the game's underperformance. Given Zynga's robust standing in the industry, it's likely that factors beyond mere performance influenced the decision to discontinue the game. One possible reason could be the oversaturation of the pseudo-hero shooter genre, coupled with a shifting demographic of Star Wars fans who may not be as interested in a high-energy multiplayer mobile experience.

For those who haven't yet experienced Star Wars: Hunters, there's still time to dive in before the game is shelved. Don't miss out on the chance to explore the game and check out our tier list of Hunters in SW: Hunters ranked by class!
