Hazelight's beloved co-op adventure game, Split Fiction, has achieved a remarkable milestone by selling nearly four million copies. Publisher EA highlighted this achievement in their latest financial report, describing the game's launch as "hugely successful" and crediting it as a key factor in their strong financial performance at the end of the 2025 fiscal year.
In a celebratory post on social media, Hazelight expressed their excitement: "4 MILLION SOLD!!!! So many of you have picked up Split Fiction already, it’s amazing… Seeing the fun you have with our game and the love you show for Mio, Zoe, and each other warms our hearts here at Hazelight. And so many hot dogs made…"
Split Fiction immerses players in the diverse worlds crafted by two fiction writers. This innovative co-op experience, which allows two players to enjoy the game even if only one owns it, has been a hit since its launch in March. The game sold over two million copies within its first week and is slated to be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2. As Hazelight continues to work on their next project, anticipation builds for what they will deliver next.
Adding to the excitement, a movie adaptation of Split Fiction is in development with Story Kitchen, known for their work on the Sonic films. The film's production is moving forward with a team of writers, a director, and a cast that includes Sydney Sweeney.
In our IGN Split Fiction review, we praised the game as "an expertly crafted and absorbing co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another." We noted that it offers "a rollercoaster of gameplay ideas and styles that are usually discarded as quickly as they’re introduced," keeping the experience "fabulously fresh for its full, 14-hour duration."
