Sega has officially announced the global release date for Sonic Rumble, providing fans with exciting details about when the game will launch and the rewards they can expect from the pre-registration campaign.

On April 9, Sega took to Twitter (X) to reveal that Sonic Rumble will hit the global market on May 8, 2025. Accompanying this announcement was a captivating new trailer showcasing gameplay footage, which has stirred anticipation among fans.
Sonic Rumble marks the first multiplayer party game in the Sonic series, allowing up to 32 players to compete in various levels and gameplay modes. Sega describes the game as, "Players control a character from the Sonic series as they navigate a toy world crafted by the villainous Dr. Eggman, tackling treacherous obstacle courses and perilous arenas!"
Given its free-to-play nature, concerns about pay-to-win mechanics have surfaced. However, Sonic Rumble Director Makoto Tase addressed these concerns in an interview with Automaton during the Tokyo Game Show 2024. Tase stated, "We’re aiming for a casual system that allows players to purchase exactly what they want for a small, fixed amount, steering clear of gacha systems that rely on probability."
Sonic Rumble Reaches Over 900k Pre-Registrations
Following the announcement of the release date, Sega disclosed that Sonic Rumble has now surpassed 900,000 pre-registrations. Achieving each milestone in the pre-registration campaign unlocks in-game rewards to enhance the player's experience from the outset.

As of now, Sonic Rumble has not yet reached the final milestone in their pre-registration campaign, and the ultimate goal remains undisclosed. Based on similar campaigns, fans speculate that this could be around 1 million pre-registrations or more.
