The Last of Us' TV adaptation has been a massive hit, with Season 3 confirmed even before Season 2 began. Fans are now wondering about the possibility of a Season 4. Showrunner Craig Mazin has made it clear that a fourth season is almost a necessity to fully tell the story from the two Naughty Dog video games.
In a recent interview with Collider, Mazin explained that wrapping up the entire narrative in just Season 3 would be too ambitious, stating that it "would take forever." He suggested that while Season 3 might be longer than Season 2, it's "impossible" to conclude the story within that timeframe.
Mazin expressed hope that the show would earn enough viewership and acclaim to justify a fourth season, saying, "Hopefully, we’ll earn our keep enough to come back and finish it in a fourth. That’s the most likely outcome."
