Rocksteady Studios Rumored to Develop New Batman Game

by Stella Mar 31,2025

According to renowned journalist Jason Schreier, the celebrated studio Rocksteady is currently developing an exciting new single-player Batman game. While specifics are still under wraps, Schreier has not confirmed whether this game will serve as a prequel, a direct sequel to the Arkham series, or perhaps something entirely new set in a different universe. However, an insider source suggests that Rocksteady might be working on "Batman Beyond," immersing players in a futuristic version of Gotham. The goal? To create a compelling trilogy. Fans can look forward to its release on the next generation of consoles.

The Arkham series has been lauded for its stunning visuals, and a futuristic Gotham could be Rocksteady's most visually impressive creation to date. The move to Batman Beyond also addresses a sensitive issue: the iconic voice of Batman. Following the tragic passing of Kevin Conroy in 2022, the studio might opt to focus on a new Batman, such as Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne, echoing the direction Warner Bros. Montreal intended for their canceled follow-up to Batman: Arkham Knight.

Rocksteady's previous venture into an online shooter did not resonate well with players, resulting in a commercial disappointment. The studio was forced to abandon its post-launch plans within a year, culminating in a hastily produced animation that undid some of the game's most contentious plot developments, revealing that the fallen heroes were actually clones.

Now, Rocksteady is returning to its roots with this new solo Batman adventure. However, industry insiders caution that fans should temper their excitement, as the project is still several years away from being released.
