Razer Gaming Laptop Removed Due to Trump's Tariffs on PC Hardware

by Olivia May 29,2025

The import tariffs introduced by U.S. President Trump are once again affecting American gamers, this time targeting Razer's Blade 16 gaming laptop.

Tariffs, in essence, are taxes levied on imported goods. Although businesses in the supply chain sometimes absorb these costs, they are usually passed on to consumers. Unfortunately for gamers, this means rising prices are almost certainly going to impact technology and gaming products.

However, some products are currently being temporarily removed from sale. As noted by The Verge, while the Blade 16 had been available for purchase in the U.S. as recently as April 1, the option to order the laptop has vanished from the website altogether.

PlayIn contrast, European gamers can still order the latest gaming laptop (assuming it's in stock — it’s unavailable in the UK). However, the U.S. site only offers a "Notify Me" button for updates and lists no prices. The Buy Now page leads to a 404 error.

Razer isn’t the only company affected; other firms like Micron, a memory manufacturer, have warned of potential surcharges due to tariffs against China and Taiwan, where many PC components are produced. Similarly, PC company Framework has "temporarily paused" some U.S. sales entirely.

Last week, the Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order date, originally set for today, April 9, was canceled in the U.S. after import tariffs triggered by President Trump caused market disruptions. Days later, the issue crossed borders, with Nintendo Canada also confirming delays for pre-orders there.

Nintendo enthusiasts and analysts are now worried the company may increase the price of the Switch 2 and its games even further, especially given the backlash over pricing following the console's announcement.
