Capcom has unveiled exciting new gameplay footage for their highly anticipated action game, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, set to launch in 2026. The game introduces players to the legendary Japanese swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi, who takes the lead in this thrilling adventure.

During the PlayStation State of Play, Capcom showcased a trailer that offered fans a fresh look at the game's sword-based action and the formidable enemies players will face. The gameplay appears promising, with dynamic combat sequences that highlight Musashi's unparalleled sword skills.

Play*Onimusha: Way of the Sword* not only promises intense action but also delves into Musashi's roguish and comedic personality, adding depth to his character. Capcom describes the game as a dark fantasy action title, featuring one of Japan's most iconic historical figures. Notably, Musashi's face in the game is modeled after the legendary actor Toshiro Mifune, who famously portrayed Musashi in samurai films.

Set in a Kyoto overrun by the evil force Malic, which is summoning Hell and its inhabitants into Japan, Onimusha: Way of the Sword marks the first new entry in the Onimusha series in two decades. In preparation for this release, Capcom has also announced a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, scheduled for May 23, 2025, to reignite fans' excitement for the franchise.
