Nintendo Switch 2 Rumble Deactivated Post-Long Sessions

by Daniel Oct 31,2025

Nintendo Switch 2 owners are encountering automatic vibration shutoffs when the system detects extended use of controller rumble features.

Players began noticing these vibration warnings shortly after the Switch 2's release this month. The console displays an alert stating "Rumble disabled due to prolonged use," temporarily preventing further vibration functionality.

"Initially I'd get this alert after roughly 90 minutes of handheld gameplay," shared a Reddit user. "Now it appears within the first 20 minutes. Is anyone else experiencing this?"

Multiple Switch 2 users report vibration problems during gameplay, particularly in intense sequences like Cyberpunk 2077's minigun firing segments or cinematic moments in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.

A dedicated Reddit discussion highlights other affected titles. "Happened during Sonic Generations' final boss battle," commented one player. "Experienced it multiple times while playing Fast Fusion," added another.

While Nintendo hasn't officially commented, community speculation suggests this may be a battery conservation measure. Vibration features consume significant power, and though disabling them seems extreme, it could prolong Joy-Con battery life.

"I keep getting this message after just brief play sessions," expressed a concerned player in another thread. "I'm worried my Joy-Con might be faulty."

Affected users currently have two solutions: permanently disable vibration in system settings or wait briefly for functionality to return automatically.
