Square Enix Announced NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel
Square Enix marked NieR's 15th Anniversary with a range of announcements for the beloved franchise, including upcoming events and projects. During the NieR 15th Anniversary livestream on April 19, Square Enix introduced NieR's online Special Novel, [U]ndecided Option.
The online novel will be updated three times, with the first installment already accessible. The subsequent updates are scheduled for April 25 and May 2. The novel's synopsis hints at an intriguing plot: "Such a 'servant' meets a mysterious boy with a mysterious air and is guided."
To complement this announcement, Square Enix launched a dedicated NieR 15th Anniversary website, serving as the main hub for the online special novel and other related projects and events planned for the anniversary celebration.
Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More
Square Enix is organizing an exhibition event at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork featuring the protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Further details on tickets and other information will be released soon.
Additional performances are scheduled for the NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024, set to take place in Osaka on July 25 and 26, and in Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets for these concerts are available through a lottery system, with more information available on the concert's official website.
A variety of new merchandise has also been announced, including an album featuring newly recorded studio jazz arrangements from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin' or Other 12024, set for release in December 2024. Re[in]carnation Developer Blog
NieR's first mobile title, NieR Re[in]carnation, will launch a developer blog series starting on April 28. Monthly updates will be released throughout the year, providing insights into the development process of Re[in]carnation.
Originally released in January 2021, the game was unfortunately shut down in April 2024 due to monetization challenges. The announcement of a developer blog for a discontinued game has sparked curiosity among fans, with many speculating about a potential sequel or remake. However, no official statements have been made regarding future projects.
