Let the demon hunting begin. Netflix is bringing the iconic video game series Devil May Cry to life with an anime adaptation, and fans got their first glimpse with a thrilling new trailer released by the streaming giant. What makes this announcement even more exciting is the inclusion of the late legendary voice actor Kevin Conroy, who will posthumously lend his voice to the series.

Conroy, celebrated for his iconic portrayal of Bruce Wayne and Batman in numerous animated projects, takes on the role of VP Baines in Devil May Cry. His voice can be heard in the opening moments of the trailer, adding a poignant layer to the series. Conroy's last notable posthumous role was in Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part 3 in July 2024, and his performance here is a testament to his enduring talent, following his passing in November 2022 at the age of 66.

Joining Conroy in the cast are Scout Taylor-Compton as Mary, Hoon Lee as White Rabbit, Chris Coppola as Enzo, and Johnny Yong Bosch voicing the protagonist, Dante.

According to Netflix's official synopsis, “Sinister forces are at play to open the portal between the human and demon realms. In the middle of it all is Dante, an orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire, unaware that the fate of both worlds hangs around his neck.”

Adi Shankar, known for his work on films like the 2012 Dredd reboot, Killing Them Softly, and The Voices, will serve as the showrunner for the series. Shankar is also attached to an adaptation of Assassin’s Creed, though its release remains uncertain since its announcement in 2017.

The animation for Devil May Cry will be handled by Studio Mir, the acclaimed South Korean studio behind The Legend of Korra and X-Men ‘97. The series is set to premiere on Netflix on April 3, 2025, promising fans a thrilling new take on the beloved franchise.
