Jason Momoa Hints at Lobo's Role in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

by Aria Apr 10,2025

Jason Momoa, known for his role as Aquaman in the now-defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU), is set to bring the iconic character Lobo to life in the upcoming DC Universe (DCU) film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, slated for release in June 2026. Lobo, an alien bounty hunter from the planet Czarnia, boasts superhuman strength and immortality, and is the last survivor of his world, much like Superman. Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, Lobo first appeared in Omega Men #3 in 1983.

Momoa has expressed his excitement about portraying Lobo, citing the character as his favorite from the comics. He has highlighted the aesthetic similarities between himself and Lobo, which makes the role a perfect fit. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Momoa teased fans with a glimpse of what to expect from Lobo's appearance in the film. He mentioned that while Lobo's screen time will be brief, the character's look will be true to the comic, complete with a cool bike and a rough, gruff demeanor.

From Aquaman to Lobo, Jason Momoa is crossing DC universes.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will also star Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl. The film, which began production in January, is heavily inspired by the graphic novel of the same name by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira. The story follows an alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll, who seeks Supergirl's help to avenge her father's murder by the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills. Matthias Schoenaerts will portray Krem, while Eve Ridley will play Ruthye. The cast also includes David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father Zor-El and Emily Beecham as her mother.

This film marks the second entry in the new DCU, following James Gunn's Superman, set to hit theaters this summer. The DCU's Clayface movie is scheduled for release in September 2026.
