Japanese Switch 2 Priced Lower Than Global Version

by Penelope Apr 11,2025

The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch with distinct pricing strategies for different regions, offering gamers a choice between two language system versions. This approach reflects Nintendo's commitment to catering to diverse markets and optimizing affordability for its Japanese audience.

Switch 2 Will Have 2 Language System Versions

The Nintendo Switch 2 will come in two versions: a Japanese-language system, exclusively available in Japan, and a Multi-Language System, available worldwide. The Japanese version is priced at around $330, significantly lower than the Multi-Language System, which will retail for $449.99. This price difference, over $100, is largely influenced by the current weak yen against the USD, which impacts tourist purchasing power in Japan.

Japanese residents have the option to purchase the Multi-Language System version as well. However, the Japanese-language system is restricted to Japan and can only be linked to Nintendo Accounts set to the Japanese region. This version supports only the Japanese language and is compatible with software available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop.

For gamers looking to enjoy the Switch 2 in languages other than Japanese, Nintendo recommends purchasing the Multi-Language System version. More detailed information about this version will be disclosed on April 4.
