Agadon the Hunter is a new enemy designed to replace the Marauder. He is not merely an upgraded version of the Marauder but a distinct adversary built from scratch. By blending attributes from multiple bosses, Agadon can dodge, evade attacks, and even deflect projectiles fired by the Doom Slayer. This boss employs a range of combination strikes, compelling players to depend on a sawtooth shield—a clear homage to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which heavily influenced the development team. The encounter with Agadon will serve as the culmination of every skill the player has honed during the game, functioning as a final trial.
The developers opted to retain the concept of a demanding boss like the Marauder, confident that players are eager for an extra layer of challenge. Yet, the previous problem wasn’t the difficulty mechanics themselves, but how they were introduced and the lack of adequate explanation.

Many mechanics needed to defeat the Marauder had not been utilized earlier in the campaign, causing some players to feel frustrated by the sudden shift in gameplay rhythm. Gradually introducing these mechanics and preparing players more thoroughly should help resolve this issue.
DOOM: The Dark Ages is set to launch on May 15, 2025, for current-generation consoles (PS5, Xbox Series) and PC via Steam.
