CD Projekt Red Issues Warning

CD Projekt Red, the developer of The Witcher 4, has taken to The Witcher’s official Twitter (X) account on April 16 to alert the community about a fraudulent beta test invite scam. The developer emphasized that no official beta tests are currently underway and any such invites are scams.

"We've been taking the necessary steps to take this fraudulent messaging down. That said, if you receive any invites to or stumble upon news of one, we kindly ask you to report the scam using the tools available to you in your email client or the social media platform you are using."

CD Projekt Red reassured fans that any future beta tests would be announced first through The Witcher’s official social media channels and websites.

First Revealed in December 2024

The Witcher 4 was unveiled to the world during the Game Awards in December 2024, accompanied by a captivating trailer that introduced Ciri as the game's protagonist. This shift from the series' traditional protagonist, Geralt, sparked significant discussion within the gaming community.

In an interview with VGC, The Witcher 4 Narrative Director Phillipp Weber addressed the fanbase's reaction to Ciri taking the lead. Weber, who also enjoyed playing as Geralt in past games, assured fans that the team is committed to making this change worthwhile.

"The best thing that we can do, and I think this is really our goal, is to prove that with Ciri, we can do a lot of interesting things so we can really make it worth it because this decision to have Ciri as a protagonist wasn’t made yesterday, we started making this a very long time ago."

The Witcher 4 Executive Producer, Małgorzata Mitręga, expressed gratitude towards fans who supported the decision to make Ciri the lead character.

"Everyone has the right to have an opinion, and we do believe it comes from the passion for our games and I think the best answer for that will be the game itself when the game is released."

CD Projekt Red promises that The Witcher 4 will be the most ambitious entry in the series yet, featuring new regions and monsters. The game is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though a specific release date has not been announced. Stay tuned to our articles for the latest updates on The Witcher 4.
