Darth Jar Jar Joins Fortnite: Fans Shocked at 1M XP Requirement

Fortnite's Star Wars season has introduced its most anticipated skin yet, Darth Jar Jar, which has left fans in awe but also frustrated due to its unique unlock requirements. To even purchase Darth Jar Jar from the Fortnite Shop, players must first grind out an impressive 1.28 million XP. Even after achieving this feat, the skin still requires 1500 V-Bucks, roughly translating to $13.

While Fortnite has previously locked skins behind XP thresholds, the move to do so with a highly anticipated skin like Darth Jar Jar during a shortened Star Wars season has sparked debate. With the season set to end on June 7, players have limited time to earn the necessary XP, adding pressure to those who've already completed their battle pass.

On platforms like Reddit, fans have expressed mixed feelings. One player remarked, "I was so hyped for this skin and was fine with it being behind a pay wall, after all it is just another skin. But this whole locked behind an XP wall is ridiculous. You want me to earn the right to give you money? I immediately closed the game." The release of a standard Jar Jar Binks skin, which doesn't require XP but still costs 1500 V-Bucks, has fueled further discontent. For those wanting all Jar Jar-related cosmetics, the total could climb to 6,500 V-Bucks, a hefty sum that some feel should be consolidated into one skin with different styles.

However, not all feedback has been negative. Some players have argued that Jar Jar is just a cosmetic choice, and there's no obligation to purchase him. One fan shared their experience, saying, "It wasn't that hard to earn the XP; it took me around 8/9 hours. I had no plans on Saturday. I did it in 3 sittings, but all in one day. I played Rocket Racing and Ranked and did Alignment Challenges to farm as much XP as possible. Nothing is making anyone get every item in the Shop; you can just pick and choose, and the fact he was just 1500 V-Bucks when Deathstroke was 1,800 V-Bucks I wasn't bothered at all by the price."

As the Star Wars season continues, Fortnite is gearing up to spotlight Mandalorian warriors with a new customizable Mandalorian skin expected in the Shop. The season will culminate in a live narrative event on June 7, where players speculate they'll have the chance to engage with the Death Star, a looming presence over the game's Island since the season's start.

Amidst the excitement of the Star Wars season, Epic Games' ongoing legal battle with Apple has intensified, with Fortnite facing continued exclusion from the iPhone App Store in the US.
