In the latest wave of "here comes a new remake" news—or, if you're feeling more optimistic, "here comes another Stephen King movie" news—a brand new adaptation of Cujo is set to sink its teeth into audiences. Netflix is gearing up to produce a fresh film version of Stephen King's chilling tale, as reported by Deadline. The project has enlisted the expertise of Vertigo Entertainment founder and producer Roy Lee. However, the project is still in its early stages, with no writers, directors, or cast members attached yet.
Originally published in 1981, King's novel Cujo was swiftly adapted into a 1983 cult classic horror film by screenwriters Don Carlos Dunaway and Barbara Turner, directed by Lewis Teague. The gripping story centers on a determined mother, portrayed by Dee Wallace, who will go to any lengths to protect her young son from a rabid dog. The narrative intensifies as the duo finds themselves trapped in a car with a dead engine, battling for survival against Cujo—a once-friendly dog turned deadly after being bitten by a rabid bat—as heatstroke looms.
