Launch Date Moved to September 12
In a surprising turn of events following the State of Play announcement, Gearbox Entertainment CEO Randy Pitchford shared a video on Twitter (X) on April 29, revealing that Borderlands 4's launch date has been advanced to September 12. Although the video was quickly taken down and replaced with a tweet stating it was posted prematurely, the news was officially confirmed shortly after.
Pitchford's video highlighted the smooth progress of the game's development, stating that "everything’s going kinda the best scenario," which prompted the decision to move up the release date. Initially set for September 23, as announced during PlayStation’s February State of Play, the game's official Twitter (X) account confirmed the new earlier date.
The official post from Borderlands 4's Twitter (X) account reads, "After careful consideration–along with A LOT of meetings, playtestings, and incredible development work–we have made the monumental decision to MOVE UP THE LAUNCH DATE OF BORDERLANDS 4 to SEPTEMBER 12."
