Baldur's Gate 3 Anniversary Stats
Romance in the Forgotten Realms
Larian's Twitter (X) post yesterday unveiled a wealth of data, starting with romance. Over 75 million companion kisses were exchanged! Shadowheart took the lead with 27 million, followed by Astarion (15 million) and Minthara (169,937). Act 1's celebratory night saw 32.5% of players with Shadowheart, 13.5% with Karlach, and 15.6% choosing solitude. By Act 3, Shadowheart's popularity soared, with 48.8% experiencing her final romance scene, compared to 17.6% with Karlach and 12.9% with Lae'zel.
More adventurous players? 658,000 enjoyed romantic encounters with Halsin—70% in human form, 30% bear form. An impressive 1.1 million players romanced the Emperor, with 63% preferring the Dream Guardian form and 37% opting for the mind flayer tentacles experience.
Fun and Fanciful Feats
Beyond romance, players embraced the game's whimsical side. 1.9 million became cheese wheels! 3.5 million visited friendly dinosaurs, and 2 million freed Us from the Colony. Even the Dark Urge showed a softer side, with at least 3,777 players finding a way to spare Alfira, unexpectedly boosting lute rock's popularity.
Animal companions were adored: Scratch the dog received over 120 million pets, while the Owlbear Cub garnered over 41 million. A curious 141,600 players attempted to pet His Majesty, the cat—the same number who conquered Honour Mode!
Character Class and Race Preferences
While pre-made characters have their charm, a remarkable 93% of players created custom avatars. Among the pre-made, Astarion (1.21 million players), Gale (1.20 million), and Shadowheart (0.86 million) were most popular. Interestingly, 15% of custom avatars were based on the Dark Urge.
The Paladin class reigned supreme with almost 10 million players, followed closely by Sorcerer and Fighter (both over 7.5 million). Barbarians, Rogues, Warlocks, Monks, and Druids also had significant representation, though below the 7.5 million mark. Rangers and Clerics followed, with Rangers chosen by 5 million and Clerics by fewer than 5 million.
Elves were the most popular race (over 12.5 million), followed by Half-Elves and Humans (both 12.5 million). Tieflings exceeded 10 million, with Drow and Dragonborn surpassing 7.5 million. Half-Orcs, Githyanki, and Dwarves each had over 2.5 million players, while Gnomes and Halflings had fewer than 2.5 million each.
Specific class-race combinations also emerged. Dwarves favored Paladins (20%), Dragonborn preferred Sorcerers, Halflings leaned towards Bards and Rogues, Gnomes favored Bards and Druids, and Tieflings balanced between Paladins, Barbarians, and Warlocks.
Epic Achievements and Surprising Outcomes
141,660 players conquered Honour Mode, while 1,223,305 playthroughs ended in defeat. Of those defeated, 76% deleted saves, and 24% continued in custom mode.
Narrative choices were impactful: 1.8 million betrayed the Emperor, 329,000 convinced Orpheus to remain a mind flayer, and 3.3 million killed the Netherbrain (200,000 with Gale's sacrifice). A rare outcome saw 34 players experience Avatar Lae'zel's self-sacrifice after Vlaakith's rejection.
Baldur's Gate 3's anniversary stats paint a vibrant picture of diverse player experiences, from grand achievements to humorous side quests, showcasing the game's depth and replayability.
