Beta Players Adore and Fear New Monster Arkveld in Monster Hunter Wilds

by Anthony Apr 07,2025

The Monster Hunter Wilds beta is back with a vengeance, introducing thrilling new challenges that have the community buzzing with excitement and a touch of fear. At the heart of this excitement is the introduction of Arkveld, the new flagship monster for Monster Hunter Wilds. As the cover star and a central figure in the game, Arkveld promises to be a pivotal part of players' adventures through the wilds.

In the latest beta test, brave hunters can take on the daunting task of hunting the Chained Arkveld, with a strict 20-minute time limit and a maximum of five "faints" before failure. This formidable beast is a massive winged creature, adorned with electric chains that extend from its arms. These chains are not just for show; Arkveld uses them to unleash thunderous attacks that electrify the air and can send even the most seasoned hunters back to camp in a cart.

Arkveld's agility and power are proving to be a significant challenge. Its ability to swiftly maneuver using its whips, launch long-reaching attacks, and generally wreak havoc has left players in awe of the new technology showcased in Monster Hunter Wilds. One particularly striking move has hunters thunderstruck: Arkveld grabs them, roars menacingly, and then slams them down with force.

The monster's presence is so commanding that it's even disrupting players' in-game meals, as hilariously captured in a video shared on the r/MHWilds subreddit. It's clear that the wilds are no place for a peaceful lunch break.

Despite the high difficulty, the Monster Hunter community is embracing the challenge. The thrill of taking down such a formidable and visually stunning monster is what the series is all about. The "Chained" designation and Arkveld's flagship status have sparked speculation about the potential for an even more terrifying "Unchained" version in the future.

The Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test 2 is scheduled to run from February 6 through 9, and then again from February 13 through 16. During these periods, players can not only face Arkveld but also tackle the returning monster Gypceros. Additional features like a Training Area and Private Lobbies are also available, enhancing the beta experience.
