Krafton Rebrands Dark and Darker Mobile to Abyss of Dungeons Amid Legal Strife

  • Abyss of Dungeons replaces Dark and Darker Mobile as new title
  • Minimal changes expected beyond the name shift
  • Move reflects Krafton's effort to separate from Ironmace's legal disputes

Krafton has officially rebranded Dark and Darker Mobile to Abyss of Dungeons, aiming to distance itself from Ironmace Studios' ongoing legal conflicts with Nexon. The change primarily affects the title and possibly some Dungeons & Dragons-related elements, with little else altered.

Ironmace Studios, founded by former Nexon employees, faces a lawsuit from Nexon alleging misuse of trade secrets. The claim centers on Ironmace's use of assets or concepts from their time at Nexon to develop Dark and Darker, sparking a prolonged legal battle.

Despite the unresolved lawsuit, rumors of a name change surfaced in February, and Krafton has now confirmed Abyss of Dungeons as the new title. This rebranding appears to finalize the shift, aligning with earlier speculations.

Gameplay Intact

Fortunately, the rebranding leaves the core gameplay of Abyss of Dungeons unchanged. While the mobile title already diverged from its roots with a third-person perspective and other tweaks, no major overhaul is expected.

For Ironmace fans, the news may sting, but hope remains that the studio's legal issues will resolve soon. Abyss of Dungeons could complement the main PC release, with a soft launch planned for June 11th in Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, and Mexico.
