CEDEC 2025 Optimization Lecture Cancelled

MH Wilds Game Optimization Lecture Cancelled Over Harassment ConcernsCapcom has cancelled the planned Monster Hunter Wilds (MH Wilds) optimization lecture at the upcoming Computer Entertainment Developers Conference 2025 (CEDEC 2025) in Yokohama, Japan, due to ongoing harassment issues. On July 7, Capcom announced the cancellation without specifying a detailed reason, according to Automaton.

The scheduled talk, titled—machine-translated—"Making Monster Hunter Wilds run smoothly! Everything you need to know about optimization," was intended to cover techniques for stable performance, high frame rates, CPU and GPU load management, and memory optimization.

Capcom likely pulled the presentation to avoid further online backlash, especially since much of the harassment stems from frustration over the game’s optimization problems.

Ongoing Online Harassment Due to Poor Optimization

Since its release, players have raised concerns about Monster Hunter Wilds’ optimization, particularly on PC. Recent player feedback has grown increasingly hostile, coinciding with the game’s “Overwhelmingly Negative” rating on Steam—a trend Capcom has acknowledged.

On July 4, Capcom posted on Twitter (X) outlining steps to improve game stability, including fixes from Title Update 2, reductions in CPU and VRAM usage, and broader performance enhancements.

The company noted repeated instances of threats, slander, and harassment across review platforms and social media.

In response, Capcom has activated its "Customer Harassment Response Guidelines," stating: “Based on the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's 'Customer Harassment Countermeasures Corporate Manual,' we may refuse support or services if acts exceeding socially accepted norms are confirmed.”

Beyond these measures, Capcom remains dedicated to refining Monster Hunter Wilds through ongoing updates. At its Annual General Meeting on July 7, shareholders expressed concerns over “insufficient content volume and optimization issues” in recent releases.

Despite being Capcom’s fastest-selling Monster Hunter title to date, Monster Hunter Wilds risks rapid reputational decline. The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest updates on Monster Hunter Wilds, see our article below!
