The decision to shut down *Star Wars: Hunters* even before reaching its first anniversary has certainly sparked discussions within the gaming community. Despite the impending closure, the game is set to celebrate its one-year anniversary before the final curtain falls. This raises an interesting question: Is it worth celebrating the anniversary of a game that's on its way out?
When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?
----------------------------------------The servers for *Star Wars: Hunters* are scheduled to shut down on October 1st, 2025, marking the end of the game just nine months after its launch. Players have been given a grace period to wrap up Season 5, which concludes on April 15th. Zynga, the game's developer and publisher, has planned a final content update to be released on April 15th, introducing a new Support Hunter, Tuya, for free. On the same day, in-game purchases will be disabled.
The Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers go offline, and events from the season will be rerun. Players with unspent Crystals should use them before the shutdown, as there will be no refunds.
It Isn’t Shocking
-----------------While it's unfortunate, the closure of *Star Wars: Hunters* doesn't come as a surprise. The game faced numerous challenges from the outset. Initially announced in 2020, it experienced multiple delays and limited beta testing in only the SEA and ANZAC regions. The lack of major console support and a tepid reception from players contributed to its downfall.
From a design perspective, the game missed an opportunity to capitalize on the rich universe of Star Wars. Instead of featuring iconic characters, it opted for generic original characters, which may have disappointed fans expecting to see their favorite heroes and villains in action.
If you've uninstalled the game but are considering one last playthrough, *Star Wars: Hunters* remains available for download on the Google Play Store until the shutdown date.
