Sony PlayStation State of Play Scheduled for Next Week

by Violet May 05,2025

Sony is gearing up to host its customary February PlayStation State of Play event next week, according to the reliable leaker NateTheHate. Known for his accurate predictions, such as the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal date, NateTheHate hinted at the State of Play airing during Valentine’s Day week, from February 10 to 14.

As anticipation builds, speculation is rife about what Sony might unveil during the event. A look at Sony’s lineup of announced first-party titles slated for 2025 offers some clues. Sucker Punch's Ghost of Yotei, with its 2025 release window, could potentially offer fans a fresh glimpse of gameplay and a specific release date.

Bungie’s PvP extraction shooter, Marathon, might also make an appearance, especially if it's gearing up for open playtesting this year. Haven Studios' debut title, Fairgames, could be on the list, as could Naughty Dog’s newly announced IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Insomniac's Marvel’s Wolverine is another title that might get some spotlight. A more probable highlight could be a new trailer for Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, set to release in 2025.

However, fans shouldn't expect to see any of the recently canceled live service games. Last month, Sony pulled the plug on two unannounced projects from Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games. The Bluepoint game was reportedly a live-service God of War title, while details about Bend Studio's project remain under wraps. On the other hand, Guerrilla Games' live service Horizon game reportedly survived the cuts and might finally be ready for a reveal.

In terms of third-party announcements, Hideo Kojima's upcoming stealth-action PlayStation exclusive, Physint, might be too early for a showcase. However, Phantom Blade Zero, the stylish hack-and-slash action RPG from Chinese studio S-Game, seems like a more likely candidate.

With Microsoft now a prominent publisher on PlayStation, there's potential for news on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which is set to launch on PS5. There’s even speculation that Microsoft might use Sony’s platform to announce Halo's arrival on PlayStation.

Reflecting on last year’s State of Play can provide some insight into what to expect. The event showcased titles like Death Stranding 2, Physint, Rise of the Ronin, the Until Dawn remaster, Stellar Blade, Dragon's Dogma 2, Sonic x Shadow Generations, various Silent Hill projects, Ken Levine’s Judas, Foamstars, and Helldivers 2.
