EA and Maxis are celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Sims franchise with an exciting surprise that fans are sure to love. Today, both The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 have been made available on PC once again, through two Legacy Collections and The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle.
EA has announced the release of The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection, available today on PC. These collections can be purchased separately or together in The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle for $40.
Both collections come packed with all expansions and nearly all stuff packs. Notably, The Sims 2: Legacy Collection is missing the IKEA Home Stuff pack from 2008, but otherwise, it's a comprehensive package. In addition to the main content, The Sims 1 includes a special Throwback Fit Kit, while The Sims 2 comes with a Grunge Revival Kit, enhancing the nostalgic experience.
EA's re-release of these classic The Sims games marks the first time in over a decade that both titles have been readily available to play. The Sims 1 was previously only available on disc, making it challenging to find and run on modern Windows machines without the expansion packs. The Sims 2 was last available in 2014 through the Ultimate Collection on EA's Origin store, which was later discontinued. Now, with these new collections, all four The Sims games are easily accessible and playable through digital storefronts.
When we first reviewed them, The Sims 1 received a 9.5/10 and The Sims 2 a 8.5/10. While the series has evolved with numerous new features and improvements, the original games remain a delightful experience due to their charm, simplicity, challenge, and historical significance.
The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are now available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and through the EA app, making it easier than ever for fans to dive back into the world of The Sims.
