Playable Version of Hollow Knight: Silksong

Coming to Game Worlds Exhibition in Australia

Silksong

Hollow Knight: Silksong stands as one of the most eagerly awaited games in recent memory, with fans longing to experience it firsthand. The extended wait might soon conclude, as a playable version will be accessible at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI). This new demo could differ significantly from the 2019 E3 version, which many viewed more as a "proof of concept" than a full preview.

ACMI will host a video game exhibition titled Game Worlds, running from September 18, 2025, to February 8, 2026. The event will highlight several prominent titles, including World of Warcraft, The Sims, and Australia's very own Hollow Knight: Silksong. Attendees can explore exclusive custom builds, original design materials, concept art, and iconic in-game objects.

In a discussion with IGN, ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their excitement about featuring Silksong. They stated, "Since its initial announcement in 2019, Hollow Knight: Silksong has been one of the most anticipated indie games worldwide – and we are thrilled to showcase the design of this South Australian-made game as a centerpiece of Game Worlds this September."

Since its 2019 announcement, details about Silksong have been sparse, prompting fans to seek out rumors and speculation regarding its release date and features. ACMI aims to break this silence by offering deeper insights into the game through the Game Worlds exhibition.

The ACMI co-curators further revealed that the exhibit will provide an in-depth look into the sequel's universe. They elaborated, "From the hundreds of sprites that bring Hornet's movements and attacks to life, to the intricate logic behind the game's most demanding boss battles – and, of course, the opportunity to play the game in-gallery – our Silksong displays explore the finer details of its artistic direction and design."

While the Australian event may hint at Silksong's potential launch window, no official release date has been confirmed. Last month, Silksong briefly appeared during the Switch 2 Direct, reaffirming a 2025 release window. Given that the exhibition concludes in 2026, hopeful players are crossing their fingers for a release this September or at some point during the event's duration.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. For the latest updates on the game, be sure to check out our article below!
