Ratatan Early Access Release Postponed
Substantial Demo Feedback Leads to Delay

In a July 4th Steam blog post, the Ratatan development team announced they're pushing back the Early Access launch after reviewing critical feedback from the demo. Originally scheduled for July 25th, the release date has been postponed indefinitely.
Developer Rata Arts shared that the demo garnered 200,000 downloads and accumulated over 1,200 Steam reviews alongside 2,000 individual feedback submissions. The team acknowledged they require additional time to implement meaningful improvements based on player concerns.
Key areas needing refinement include the roguelike structure and reward pacing, AI behavior where some Ratatans fail to utilize skills, visual impact and presentation quality, plus overall content structure and gameplay flow.

While Ratatan serves as a spiritual successor to the beloved Patapon series and shares its creator, Hiroyuki Kotani, the developers stress this is an independent project forging its own path. "Ratatan isn't Patapon - it's an indie game pursuing a fresh creative direction with intentional differences," the team explained.
At our publication, we observed Ratatan carries Patapon's nostalgic essence while introducing innovative elements. With Kotani leading development and excited fans following its progress, Ratatan channels that classic Patapon energy while transforming it into something unexpectedly different.
