8BitDo is a video game hardware company established in 2013, known for crafting popular retro-style controllers over the years. Their latest release is the 8BitDo Pro 3 Bluetooth Gamepad, designed for mobile and other devices.
The 8BitDo Pro 3 Bluetooth Gamepad supports multiple platforms, including Android, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, Windows PC, Apple devices, and SteamOS. It maintains the classic 8BitDo design while adding modern enhancements.
The Pro 3 features magnetic interchangeable parts, allowing you to customize the controller’s physical layout. It also supports up to three custom profiles, letting you switch control schemes based on the game or system.
Compared to earlier models, the Pro 3 now uses TMR joysticks for improved sensitivity and precision. It also includes hall-effect triggers and responsive tactile feedback on the bumpers and D-pad—offering a crisp, snappy feel without stiffness.
Charging and connectivity are managed through a built-in charging dock. Placing the controller on the dock initiates charging, and it automatically reconnects once removed. The device runs on 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2.
The gamepad offers extensive customization options through its companion app, including button remapping, joystick and trigger sensitivity adjustments, vibration intensity control, and macro creation.
When will the 8BitDo Bluetooth Gamepad be available for mobile?
Game Outlet Europe has announced that the 8BitDo Pro 3 Bluetooth Gamepad will start shipping across Europe on August 13th, 2025. It comes in three color options: Purple, Grey, and G Classic, priced at €69.99 or £59.99 depending on your region.
