Oscar Isaac Exits Star Wars Event, Sparks MCU Moon Knight Avengers Rumors

by Julian Apr 19,2025

Rumors are swirling that Oscar Isaac might be reprising his role as Moon Knight in the highly anticipated film, Avengers: Doomsday. This buzz stems from a recent announcement that Isaac will no longer be attending Star Wars Celebration in Japan due to changes in his production schedule. Initially, fans were excited about Isaac's potential return to the Star Wars universe as Poe Dameron, especially after Daisy Ridley's announcement at Star Wars Celebration 2023 of her involvement in a new Star Wars film.

The speculation about Isaac's involvement in Avengers: Doomsday gained traction because the film is currently in production in London. Social media was abuzz with fans connecting the dots:

While these theories are exciting, they remain just that—theories. Isaac was not included in the initial cast reveal for Avengers: Doomsday. However, Marvel Studios producer Kevin Feige hinted at more surprises, stating during a video call at CinemaCon that the livestream did not include the entire cast. This leaves room for speculation and hope among fans.

Isaac previously starred in the six-episode series Moon Knight in 2022, but no follow-up has been announced yet. Avengers: Doomsday is slated for release on May 1, 2026, promising a lineup of returning heroes and new faces, as revealed during the epic livestream.

In other MCU news, fans have been intrigued by Robert Downey Jr.'s recent Doctor Doom-themed invitation for his 60th birthday party, adding another layer of mystery to the unfolding MCU narrative.

The cast reveal for Avengers: Doomsday last month featured several veteran X-Men actors, including Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden. This heavy representation of X-Men characters has led to speculation that Avengers: Doomsday might secretly be an Avengers vs. X-Men movie. Grammer, who played Beast in the Fox X-Men franchise, made his MCU debut in The Marvels' post-credits scene. Stewart, known for his role as Charles Xavier/Professor X, appeared briefly in the MCU in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as a member of the Illuminati. Meanwhile, McKellen (Magneto), Cumming (Nightcrawler), Romijn (Mystique), and Marsden (Cyclops) are yet to make their MCU debuts, further fueling the speculation.
