The most straightforward route to reach Mutt is to fast travel to the Nomads' Camp, then head southwest into the forest following the path. This should lead you directly to the top of the cave. As you near the area, listen for Mutt's whines, which will guide you to a clearing near the cave where Mutt and a few wolves await.
