Honkai Star Rail 3.2 Update Enhances Banner System for Greater Player Freedom

by Gabriella Apr 10,2025

Gacha mechanics are a pivotal element of Honkai Star Rail, and it appears that miHoYo, now known as HoYoverse, is set to enhance player control over character pulls. Exciting leaks indicate that the banner system will undergo significant transformations starting with version 3.2, revolutionizing the way players engage with the game's gacha mechanics.

According to insider sources from Sakura Haven, the forthcoming 3.2 update will introduce a customizable pity system for limited banners. Rather than being confined to a standard pool of characters for 50/50 pity pulls, players will now have the ability to handpick their preferred characters from a curated set. These selected characters can either partially or fully replace the default pool, thereby empowering players with greater control over their rewards.

Currently, the 50/50 pity pool comprises 7 standard characters. With the 3.2 update, this will transition to a 'Group' of characters from which players can choose. You’ll select 7 characters from this 'Group,' and they will constitute your personalized 50/50 pity pool. Consequently, should you lose a 50/50 roll, you’ll be awarded a character from your tailored pool instead of the default standard lineup.

The 'Group' will initially encompass the 7 standard characters along with a limited selection of additional characters to choose from.

This update is poised to significantly improve the player experience by mitigating frustration and enhancing flexibility. By enabling players to customize their pity pool, miHoYo is addressing a prevalent grievance regarding gacha systems: the unpredictability of losing pity rolls. With the newfound ability to prioritize specific characters, players will have a better opportunity to acquire units that align with their playstyle or preferences.

However, the exact composition of the selectable pool remains undisclosed. It is uncertain whether the pool will include past limited characters, current banner units, or even brand-new additions.

These proposed changes underscore miHoYo’s continuous efforts to refine Honkai Star Rail and make it more player-friendly. By introducing a customizable pity system, the developers are recognizing the significance of player choice in gacha games. This initiative could establish a new benchmark for the design of similar systems in other titles.

While the precise implementation and impact of this feature are yet to be fully realized, the announcement has already ignited enthusiasm within the community. Fans are eagerly anticipating how these changes will influence their gameplay experience upon the launch of Honkai Star Rail 3.2.
