Freedom Wars Remastered: Enhanced Gameplay and New Features Revealed
A new trailer for Freedom Wars Remastered showcases improved gameplay and control mechanics. This action RPG features battles against colossal mechanical creatures, gear upgrades, and challenging missions within a bleak, dystopian world. The remaster boasts significant enhancements, including stunning visuals, faster-paced combat, refined crafting, a brutal new difficulty setting, and inclusion of all original customization DLC. Launching January 10th on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC.
Freedom Wars Remastered, recently highlighted in a Bandai Namco trailer, offers a visually enhanced experience alongside gameplay refinements. The game’s balance has been adjusted, a challenging new difficulty level added, and several features updated.
Originally a PlayStation Vita exclusive, Freedom Wars emerged as a response to Capcom’s decision to bring the Monster Hunter franchise to Nintendo consoles. While vastly different in setting, the core gameplay loop mirrors Monster Hunter's: players combat massive mechanical adversaries ("Abductors"), collect their parts, and upgrade equipment to improve combat effectiveness.
The new trailer provides a clear demonstration of the gameplay. It introduces the protagonist, a "Sinner" condemned for the crime of being born, in a world ravaged by resource depletion. The Sinner's sentence involves completing missions for their Panopticon (city-state), ranging from civilian rescue and Abductor destruction to capturing control systems. These missions can be tackled solo or cooperatively online.
Freedom Wars Remastered's Gameplay Enhancements
The trailer details the improvements in Freedom Wars Remastered. Graphics receive a major boost, reaching 2160p (4K) at 60 FPS on PS5 and PC, and 1080p at 60 FPS on PS4. The Switch version maintains 1080p resolution but runs at 30 FPS. Gameplay is significantly faster than the original, incorporating enhanced movement speed and attack cancellation mechanics.
The crafting and upgrade systems have been completely overhauled. They now feature more intuitive interfaces and allow for the easy attachment and detachment of modules. A new module synthesis feature enables players to enhance modules using resources obtained from rescued citizens. Finally, a challenging "Deadly Sinner" difficulty mode caters to experienced players, and all customization DLC from the original PS Vita release is included from the outset.
