Crystal Dynamics, the renowned California-based game developer, in collaboration with UK-based creative design studio Lost In Cult and Dutch art dealership Cook and Becker, has announced two thrilling new projects for the iconic Legacy of Kain franchise. Following the successful December 2024 release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered, fans are in for a treat with these new ventures into the dark, gothic world of Nosgoth.
Lost in Cult and Cook and Becker Unveil Legacy of Kain Encyclopedia
The first project, The Book of Nosgoth, is an official encyclopedia that promises to be the ultimate guide to the gothic universe of Nosgoth. Written by Nic Reuben of Rock Paper Shotgun, this compendium will explore the rich lore of the Legacy of Kain series, including detailed accounts of Nosgoth’s locations, factions, and inhabitants, as well as a comprehensive timeline of the epic rivalry between Kain and Raziel.
Beyond its extensive lore, The Book of Nosgoth will offer fans an exclusive look behind the scenes of the series' development. Expect to find original concept art, sketches, maps, and in-depth interviews with the developers. This encyclopedia will delve into the creation of all five Legacy of Kain titles, providing a thorough exploration of the series' production history.
An Official Legacy of Kain TTRPG Set to Launch
The second project, Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan, introduces an atmospheric tabletop role-playing game set during the Sarafan Order’s crusade against the vampiric scourge in Nosgoth. Utilizing the acclaimed MÖRK BORG ruleset, this TTRPG promises a mechanics-light, high-stakes gameplay experience where players take on the roles of Sarafan Order warrior priests.
Legacy of Kain: Scourge of Sarafan will feature six playable classes, unique weapons and spells, and an official bestiary of nocturnal horrors. Players will explore Nosgoth’s unique landscape, engage in vampire hunts, uncover hidden histories, and venture into the spectral realm, crafting their own narrative within this rich setting.
