In a surprising twist for fans of both sports and fighting games, Cristiano Ronaldo, widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers alongside Lionel Messi, is set to join the roster of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves as a playable character. This marks one of the most unusual guest character appearances in recent fighting game history.
SNK Corporation, the game's developer and publisher, unveiled Ronaldo's inclusion in a trailer that showcases his integration into the game's distinctive comic-inspired art style. Ronaldo brings his football prowess into the fighting arena with moves like "Headed Clearance" and a slide tackle, and he even performs his iconic 'Siuuu' celebration. Notably, voice actor Juan Felipe Sierra lends his voice to Ronaldo's character in the game.
Here’s the official description of Ronaldo’s character:
One of the top football players in the world. He uses his time off to visit South Town to hone his new football skills. The various techniques he has developed playing football make him an unstoppable force, even to seasoned fighters.
The 40-year-old forward currently plays for Al Nassr FC, a professional football club based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, competing in the Saudi Pro League. The club is majority-owned by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF), chaired by crown prince Mohammed bin Salman. Interestingly, SNK is now almost entirely owned by the Saudi crown prince’s foundation.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is slated for release on April 24, 2025, promising a dynamic art style, a mix of new and familiar fighters, and updated battle systems for an enhanced gaming experience.
