In *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, you'll embark on a thrilling journey through ancient China, slashing your way through battles alongside iconic warlords. A key decision awaits you: choosing which faction to align with. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you navigate this pivotal choice in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins Factions Explained
*Dynasty Warriors: Origins* unfolds across multiple chapters, with the first two allowing your character, the Wanderer, to remain neutral. During this time, you'll interact with Sun Jian’s, Cao Cao’s, and Liu Bei’s factions, participating in key historical events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate.
However, by Chapter 3, the game prompts you to make a crucial decision: by the end of this chapter, you must choose one of the three factions to join. By then, you should have a good sense of which faction resonates with you, but if not, the game provides additional battles to help you decide.
To advance, you'll need to complete specific missions for each faction. Aligning with Sun Jian requires completing three battles, Liu Bei needs two, and Cao Cao just one. Once you fulfill a faction's requirements, a new mission becomes available, prompting you to choose your allegiance. For instance, completing Cao Cao’s mission first meant I had to choose between him and Liu Bei, with Liu Bei’s option unavailable due to uncompleted missions. Remember, you can always complete missions for all factions before making your final decision.

Once you make your choice, the faction you did not select will be locked out for the remainder of the game. This means no more sidequests from their officers and no further bond increases with them, potentially making your chosen path more challenging. For example, choosing Liu Bei meant fewer commanding officers to interact with, limiting my opportunities to earn skill points from sidequests.
Each faction offers unique missions, so if you're keen on experiencing all that *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* has to offer, consider saving your game before choosing a faction. You can then reload this save to explore different alliances.
That's your guide to selecting a faction in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*. The game is now available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, ready for you to make your mark on history.
