Capcom has subtly teased Resident Evil 9 right under our noses. In a celebration of reaching an impressive 10 million players, the Resident Evil 4 development team released a short video on social media on April 25. The video features Ada Wong quietly conversing with a notorious villain, then shifts to Leon surrounded by an infected crowd wearing party hats as they leisurely advance toward a church.
The scene transitions to a rock song with Dr Salvador playfully strumming his chainsaw as if it were a guitar, and the camera zooms out to reveal a jubilant Leon. Behind him stands a rustic sign reading "Thank you for playing."

However, when you rotate the sign, the boards form the Roman numeral "IX," which represents the number 9. While this could be a coincidence, horror game leaker Dusk Golem points out that the lower plank on the sign, crucial for forming the numeral, was not present in earlier parts of the video, suggesting it was added deliberately.
"I know what you did here," said one astonished viewer, accompanied by a wide-eyed emoji.
Capcom has officially announced that Resident Evil 7 director Koshi Nakanishi will helm the next mainline entry in the Resident Evil series. "It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]," Nakanishi said at the time. "But I found it, and to be honest it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." There's speculation, though not confirmed, that the game will be set on an island inspired by Singapore.
