As if they could resist bringing back Alicia Silverstone in that iconic yellow and plaid. The beloved actress is set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in a new Clueless sequel series, exclusively on Peacock.
The series, currently in development with the streaming service, promises to continue the story from the original 1995 film. While plot details are being kept under wraps, we know that Silverstone will be back in action. This project is distinct from the Clueless spin-off Peacock had in the works back in 2020.
The creative team behind this exciting revival includes Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, known for their work on the original Gossip Girl series and its reboot. They will be joined by writer Jordan Weiss to pen the series. Together, they will also executive produce alongside Amy Heckerling, the original writer-director of Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, who produced the film. CBS Studios and Universal Television are on board to produce the series.
This isn't the first time Clueless has ventured into television. Following the film's success, a TV version aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, with Rachel Blanchard stepping into the role of Cher instead of Silverstone.
Silverstone's recent return to her Clueless character came in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten, signaling her eagerness to dive back into Cher's world. And who can blame her? We're all ready to see what new adventures await Cher Horowitz.
