Unlike previous Dynasty Warriors titles featuring numerous playable characters with unique weapon sets, Dynasty Warriors: Origins streamlines the experience. Players control a single character who progressively unlocks a diverse arsenal of weapons. Here's how to acquire each weapon:
Weapon Acquisition Guide
The game starts with a sword. Subsequent weapons are earned by defeating specific enemy officers in various missions. While all nine primary weapons are obtainable before completing Chapter 3, the exact timing depends on which officers are defeated. For optimal early acquisition, follow this guide:
- Sword: Starting weapon.
- Spear: Complete the Battle of Guangyang (Chapter 1). Purchase is necessary for story progression.
- Gauntlets: Battle of Guangzong (Chapter 1). Defeat Zhou Cang.
- Wheels: Suppression of You Province (Chapter 2). Defeat Zhang Ju.
- Podao: Subjugation of the White Wave Bandits (Chapter 2). Defeat any officer wielding this weapon.
- Staff: Assassination of Dong Zhuo (Chapter 2). Defeat the officer located within a secret passage in a treasure chamber.
- Twin Pike: Battle of Hulao Gate (Chapter 2). Defeat Zhang Liao.
- Lance: Battle of Xu Province. Defeat an officer from the opposing faction (Cao Cao or Liu Bei) wielding the lance.
- Crescent Blade: Unlocked in Chapter 3 after aligning with a specific faction. The exact mission varies depending on your choices.
The Ultimate Challenge: The Halberd
Beyond the nine primary weapons, a powerful halberd awaits. This weapon requires defeating Lu Bu in the Battle of Hulao Gate after completing the main campaign. This challenging battle rewards players with arguably the game's most potent weapon.
