The rumor mill for the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series is heating up, and the latest spark comes from Singapore's rating board, which has rated "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4" for a 2025 release. This exciting development suggests that the beloved skateboarding franchise is set to continue its revival with remakes of the next two mainline games.
The rating board's listing indicates that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 will be available across a wide range of platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. This broad platform support hints at a major release aimed at reaching as many fans as possible.
While no official confirmation has been made yet, a countdown timer discovered in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is stoking the flames of anticipation. This timer is set to conclude on March 4, 2025, teasing that significant Tony Hawk's Pro Skater news is imminent.
Adding more credibility to the rumors, Tony Hawk himself revealed during an interview with Mythical Kitchen that he has been in talks with Activision again, and they are working on something special. "It will be something the fans will truly appreciate," Hawk stated, raising expectations for what could be an exciting new chapter in the series.
The success of the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 remake in 2020 made a follow-up with remakes of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and 4 seem inevitable. However, the absorption of the original remake's developer, Vicarious Visions, into Blizzard in 2021 threw a wrench into those plans. Tony Hawk shared in a 2022 Twitch livestream that the initial plan was to proceed with 3+4 right after the release of 1+2, but Activision's trust in Vicarious Visions made it difficult to find a suitable replacement.
"The truth of it is that [Activision] were trying to find somebody to do 3 + 4 but they just didn’t really trust anyone the way they did Vicarious, so they took other pitches from other studios," Tony Hawk explained. "Like, ‘What would you do with the THPS title?’ And they didn’t like anything they heard, and then that was it."
With the Singaporean ratings board listing Activision as both the publisher and developer, the question of who is developing the rumored Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 remake remains open. Fans won't have to wait long for more information, as March 4, next week, seems poised to bring some much-anticipated answers.
