Star Wars Outlaws Set for Nintendo Switch 2 Release

by Ava Apr 22,2025

Ubisoft has officially announced that Star Wars: Outlaws will be available on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. However, fans will need to wait a bit longer as it won't be a launch title for the new Nintendo handheld, set to release on June 5. Instead, the space adventure will hit the shelves on September 4.

If you missed Star Wars: Outlaws on PS5, Xbox, and PC, it's set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The game follows Kay Vess, a small-time criminal who finds herself targeted by a cartel. Our reviewer rated it a 7 out of 10, describing it as "a fun intergalactic heist adventure with great exploration, but hindered by simple stealth, repetitive combat, and a few too many bugs at launch."

While Ubisoft didn't share many new details beyond confirming the release date on the Nintendo Switch 2, this news helps us update the Switch 2 Games List. This is especially timely as American and Canadian gamers remain in pre-order limbo while Nintendo evaluates the impact of new tariffs introduced by the Republican administration. Any updates on upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 games provide a welcome distraction during these uncertain times.

The announcement was made during a panel at Star Wars Celebration in Japan. Ubisoft also unveiled the second story pack for Star Wars: Outlaws, titled A Pirate’s Fortune. In this add-on, Kay Vess allies with Hondo Ohnaka to confront Stinger Tash, the leader of the Rokana Raiders. Star Wars: Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune is scheduled for release on May 15.
