Insomniac's Renewed Focus on Film and Television

Schneider specifically mentioned the 2016 Ratchet & Clank film, highlighting Insomniac's early involvement and continued enthusiasm for such projects. The studio's acquisition by Sony in 2019 further bolsters their confidence, given Sony's proven success with game adaptations, most notably the critically acclaimed The Last of Us series.

Sony's Expanding Game Adaptation Portfolio

Sony's track record speaks for itself, with successful adaptations like the 2022 Uncharted film and the aforementioned The Last of Us. Recent announcements at CES 2025 further solidify their commitment to this strategy. Upcoming projects include The Last of Us Season 2 (HBO, April 2025), an Until Dawn live-action film (April 2025), a Ghost of Tsushima Legends anime series (Crunchyroll, 2027), and films based on Helldivers and Horizon Zero Dawn, though release dates for the latter two remain unannounced.
