This remarkable achievement unfolded over a 24-hour marathon on November 26, 2024, celebrating the release of the latest expansion, Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks.
The Longest Unboxing Livestream to Date
The Pokémon Company shattered the previous record with a thrilling livestream event on their Twitch channel. Hosted by renowned internet personalities including Serebii’s Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv, the marathon saw them opening 1,500 booster packs and unveiling a vast array of Pokémon products. By the end of the event, they had amassed over 20,000 cards, as reported by Pokémon’s Official Press website.
Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed immense pride in this accomplishment. "It’s been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we’re thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators," he remarked.

Released on November 8, 2024, the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion transports players to the Terarium, the setting of Pokémon SV’s The Indigo Disk: DLC Part 2. This expansion introduces Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, including the formidable Archaludon ex with its Metal Defender ability.
Fans will also delight in the inclusion of iconic dragon-type Pokémon such as Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex.
